School library aides provide assistance to librarians, students and teachers in the school library. They perform customer service, along with clerical and computer tasks, and some light maintenance. Their work allows the school librarians to focus on higher-level responsibilities.

School library aides check books and other materials in and out of the library. They re-shelve books, magazines, compact discs and videotapes, straighten the collections, and do light dusting. They do minor repairs of book and magazine covers and pages.
Assisting Students

School library aides show students how to use library resources such as reference materials and audiovisual media. They teach students how to locate certain types of books in the library.
