Getting a real estate agent's license in California requires at least 54 days of taking approved educational courses. The state of California Real Estate Commission requires that three sales professional training courses be taken before sitting for the licensure examination.

    Real Estate Courses

  1. Agent candidates can opt to take the courses over a longer duration by participating in weekend or evening training sessions. To complete the courses in 54 days, students must be able to attend long daytime classes over the course of the workweek.
  2. Minimum Course Requirements

  3. California real estate guidelines prohibit the completion of the required training in less than 18 days.
  4. Background Screenings

  5. After successfully completing the required real estate training, the candidate must submit to a background check. Results of the F.B.I./B.C.I. electronic fingerprint typically take less than five days to receive.
  6. Submit Certificates

  7. After submitting the class completion certificates to the California Real Estate Commission, a candidate can schedule a seat for the licensure examination.
  8. Test Results

  9. Tests are given at multiple locations several times a month. Test results are immediate, and a real estate agent license is sent to the approved broker so the agent can begin a property sales career.
