Dora the Explorer 3rd Birthday Party Ideas

Dora the Explorer is a favorite with younger children, and the inclusion of Diego makes the theme work well for boys and girls.

Invitations

Invitations with a Dora theme are readily available from commercial sources or you can create your own, mimicking the style of Dora's friend, Map. Be sure to include some Spanish words in the invitation.

Decorations

Use Dora's signature colors of hot pink, lime green, orange and yellow to decorate. Set up the area for a Dora adventure, using an outdoor theme with trees, a stream, rocks, flowers and other outdoor elements.

Games and Activities

As the children arrive, have them color some of the Dora printables available from Nick Jr. As the primary activity, stage a theft by Swiper. The children must then go on a hunt to find the missing item (for instance, the birthday cake). Stage challenges for the children on the way to the missing item. Popping bubbles or assembling a puzzle to create a bridge are age-appropriate and fun obstacles. A piñata is nearly essential for a Dora party, but because the children are so young, be sure to get one with strings to pull instead of one that must be smashed.

Give each child a homemade purple backpack with anything they might need to complete their challenges (for instance, pieces of the puzzle they must assemble), as well as Dora-themed items such as stickers, notepads or suckers.
