What Is a TV Tuner Box?
A TV tuner box allows TV stations to be viewed on a computer. It provides a link between your TV source (antenna, cable or satellite receiver) and the computer to convert the signal and allow you to change channels. It is the equivalent of a digital converter box for a computer.

Connecting to Computer
-
A TV tuner box is an external device, so it usually connects to the computer through a USB connection.
Connecting to TV
-
The tuner box usually has multiple methods of connecting to the TV source. It mainly uses an RCA composite, S-video or RF coaxial connection, allowing you to use the best available connection to your antenna or cable/satellite receiver.
-
Software
-
The tuner box comes with a CD that contains programs you must install. This software allows the computer to recognize the tuner's drivers, and it includes a media application that allows you to view the TV channels on screen.
Input Setting
-
Once connected, the tuner box's input setting must be adjusted. This setting makes sure the tuner is using the cable connection that the TV source is connected to.
Channel Changing
-
If the tuner is connected to an antenna, you must use the box's own tuner to change channels (with either the remote or the on-screen buttons on the application). If the tuner is connected to cable/satellite TV, you will change the channels on the cable/satellite box.
