What People Foods Make Dogs Sick?
You know the look. Those pleading eyes, that quiet but unmistakable whine. Your dog wants a taste, a bite...just a little bit. But your dog's metabolism is different than yours, and what's good for you might not be good for your dog. Keep your dog safe by avoiding these common "people food" snacks.
-
Chocolate

Chocolate contains caffeine and a substance known as theobromine which can cause heart and nervous system problems in dogs. The darker the chocolate, the more toxic it is.

Grapes--and their dried counterparts, raisins--can cause kidney failure in dogs. The toxin that causes this is unknown and it doesn't affect all dogs, but the ASPCA advises against feeding grapes to your dog.
-
Onions
-
Onions, and to a lesser extent garlic, can cause anemia in dogs. The culprit--sulfoxides and disulfides--are more toxic to cats. Onion is more dangerous when it is raw.
