Banks are the financial pillars in any community. To attract and maintain customers, it is important that every employee at the bank maintain an appropriate public image. As a result, when banks are hiring candidates for any position, they are looking for very specific traits in people.

  1. Can-Do Attitude

    • Customers seek answers from bankers. While a person may not always have the answer, banks always appreciate the person who will not stop until they get they answer.

    • Many products in a bank require someone to sell them to customers to prevent loss to competitors. Everything from CDs, mortgages and investment services are sold by every employee via referral at the very least.

    Trustworthiness

    • Banks need to trust employees who have access to millions or billions of dollars in accounts. Part of the employment process is a criminal background check and fingerprinting.

    Financial Stability

    • For the bank to be respected for financial stability, employees must have a sense of financial stability. Banks bond employees, and those who have declared bankruptcy or are experiencing extreme financial distress are not good candidates.

    Attention to Details

    • From the teller who must account for every penny to managers who have to understand the fine print of contracts, having employees who understand and are attentive to details is imperative in banking.
