Jelly Belly Identification
The most popular jelly bean company on the planet, Jelly Belly, continues to add to its repertoire of flavors. Fans with sensitive palates may find themselves hesitant before popping one of the colorful candies, not knowing what flavor may burst onto their tongues. Does this Spark an idea?
-
History
-
Beginning with just eight flavors, the Jelly Belly company began production in 1976, and is now known as the top-selling gourmet jelly bean in the world.
Considerations
-
Jelly Belly now makes several different categories of flavors: the 50 official flavors, BeanBoozled (a la Harry Potter), rookie flavors (test flavors), Cold Stone Creamery parlor mix, tropical, sour, sport beans (for energy), smoothie, soda pop shoppe and JBz.
-
Features
-
The beans generally stick to the same color as their flavors. You can expect blueberry to be blue and Sunkist Orange to be orange.
Types
-
Some of the beans have a speckled appearance, which correspond with the more specific or complicated flavors. For example, Buttered Popcorn is white and yellow speckled. Be careful, though...the BeanBoozled colorings are the same as the popular flavors that you love. Instead of Juicy Pear, you could get Booger!
Identification
-
Often times, the beans do smell like their flavor, but it is hard to tell without taking a nibble. The best way to eat the beans is with the help of the identification guide that comes with every package.
Fun Fact
-
Try combining several different beans and eating them at the same time for a unique flavor experience. For example, Chocolate Pudding + Very Cherry = chocolate-covered cherry. The company gives suggestions for these mixes on most packages.
