What Are Southwest Fun Fares?

Southwest Airlines Fun Fares were a discounted advance one-way ticket to or from any of the company's destinations. This ticketing designation was replaced with "Wanna Get Away" fares.

History

Southwest Airlines debuted Fun Fares in 1986. With the advent of the Internet, Southwest.com became a convenient place to get the company's most current specials.

Rules

Fun Fares were subject to a 21-day advance purchase and were nonrefundable.

Current Offering

Wanna Get Away web-only fares replaced Fun Fares and are subject to a 14-day advance purchase, transferable at 100 percent value for up to 12 months, but remain nonrefundable.

Finding Fares

These web-only fares are available for purchase only Southwest Airlines website, www.southwest.com. The airline also offers Ding!, a desktop computer fare search utility for Windows and Mac OS X that displays regional sales and discounts.

Rewards

Wanna Get Away fares are eligible for Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards program credits at the rate of 1 point per one-way ticket.
