- In pre-approval clinical studies with levocetirizine, the most common side effects occurred in 2 to 6 percent of participants. These included drowsiness, dry mouth, fatigue and nosebleeds.
- Another somewhat common side effect was development of a cold or flu-like symptoms, such as fever, coughing, runny nose and sore throat.
- Other possible side effects associated with levocetirizine include headache, hoarseness, muscle aches, sleepiness and swollen glands.
- Rarely, some people experience an allergic reaction to levocetirizine. Signs include a rash or hives, and swelling of the lips, mouth or throat.
- Levocetirizine can increase the drowsiness effect of other drugs such as alcohol, other antihistamines, muscle relaxants, sedatives, tranquilizers, pain relievers and seizure medication.
