Ginseng tea has been popular in Asia for thousands of years. The most commonly used type of ginseng is Panax ginseng, which contains ginsenosides that have been found to have healing properties. Siberian and American ginseng have also been used throughout history. American Indians used American ginseng. The root is commonly used as a tea for its medicinal benefits. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Energy

    • Ginseng tea has been used in Ancient China to present as a tonic for energy and overall vitality. It has been used for restorative purposes for problems with nervous disorders, confusion, chronic fatigue and anemia.

    Cancer

    • Ginseng tea reduces the side effects of chemotherapy. It also can help to reduce the risk of cancer in the first place. A study conducted at the Korea Cancer Center Hospital found that the preventative effects of ginseng against cancer were higher when using ginseng extract or powder rather than served fresh and sliced, juiced or brewed in tea.

    Libido

    • Ginseng tea effects men's libido, and is useful for combating problems with erectile dysfunction. According to a study at Southern Illinois University, ginsenoside components within ginseng act on the central nervous system and gonadal tissues to effect libido.

    Immune System

    • Ginseng may help to strengthen the immune system by relieving persistent infections in the body. It also improves the effectiveness of flu vaccines, and antibiotics used for bronchitis. Ginseng has antioxidants that are beneficial to the heart and may help people with heart disorders.

    Warning

    • Ginseng tea should be avoided if you have high blood pressure, or are taking other stimulants. Also, children should not drink ginseng tea.
