What Is a Bladder Infection?

A bladder infection is also referred to as a urinary tract infection and can cause inflammation of the bladder. Bladder infections are very uncomfortable but are easily treated once detected.

    Causes of Bladder Infections

  1. According to the Mayo Clinic a bladder infection is caused by bacteria that enters the urinary tract. When the bacteria reaches the bladder, it causes irritation and inflammation.
  2. Symptoms of Bladder Infections

  3. Symptoms of bladder infections include painful or burning during urination, the need to urinate frequently, pressure or discomfort in the pelvis or abdomen, fever, and bloody, cloudy or odorous urine.

  5. A child with a bladder infection may start to wet the bed, even if that child has never had a problem with bed-wetting before.

  7. Bladder infections are easily treated with antibiotics.
  8. Preventing Bladder Infections

  9. Bladder infections can be prevented by drinking plenty of water and using good bathroom hygiene. Consuming cranberry juice on a daily basis may also help prevent bladder infections.
