The Best Time for Yoga Exercise

The practice of yoga can be done at any time, but the practice of exercise or asana is best done when you have an empty stomach and are in a quiet, comfortable space.

  1. Yoga Branches

    • What you can expect in yoga classes depends on your teacher. There are eight branches of yoga and exercise (asana) is just one branch.

    Yoga Meditation

    • Meditation is also considered a yoga practice, although it typically accompanies asana. Any time you wish, you are able to drawn your attention inward and reflect upon your own thoughts and emotions.

    Morning Asana

    • Sunrise is the perfect time to begin practicing the traditional flows of surya namaskara, or sun salutations.

    Afternoon Asana

    • This time of day is excellent for practicing standing postures, asana flows from one position to the next, and inversions.

    Evening Asana

    • In the evening it is important to respect your digestion, and restorative postures are best. Any seated pose can be used to reflect on events of the day and release any tensions collected in your day's work.
