Omaha Card Game Rules

Omaha is a poker game similar in style to Texas Hold 'Em. In both games, players must combine their cards with "community cards" dealt in the center of the table. Omaha's main difference is players get four cards each instead of two in Hold 'Em.

  1. Deal

    • The dealer shuffles and deals four cards to each player. In casino rules, the dealer does not play. Also, the two players to the dealer's left usually place bets in the pot before the deal to assure there is always something to win in each hand.

The Flop (First Three Community Cards)

    • The remaining players who haven't bet now place their bets, traveling clockwise around the table. The dealer then discards the top card from the deck and places the next three cards face up on the table as "community cards."

Second Round and the "Fourth Street"

    • The second round of betting begins with the player to the dealer's right and continuing clockwise around the table. The dealer discards the deck's top card again, then adds a fourth face up "community card" to the table.

Third Round and the "Fifth Street"

    • After the third betting round, the dealer discards one more card, then adds a fifth and final card to the tables. All players must now create a hand from three of the five community cards on the table and two of the four cards in their possession.

    Final Betting

    • The final betting round takes place after all five community cards are dealt, then players must show their hands. The player who made the last raise shows his hand first; otherwise, the player who made the initial bet shows first.
