Cool Ideas for Decorating a Baby Room
Decorating a baby room is a rite of passage for new parents-to-be. It gives them a way to connect with their unborn child, and plan for the baby's arrival. Decorating a baby room is easier when you have some cool ideas to get you started. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Choose a Theme
-
Many baby rooms are decorated around a theme, such as princesses, baby animals or favorite cartoon characters. Using a theme is an easy way to achieve a professionally decorated, and fun, look in a baby's nursery.
Bright Colors
-
Babies are born with limited vision, and cannot distinguish between colors until around 3 months of age. They can, however, see a difference in light and dark colors. Decorating a baby room in bright colors, with some lighter colors for contrast, can provide very interesting visual stimulation for an infant.

Painting
-
The walls of a baby room do not need to be painted all one color. Consider painting designs or borders on the walls, using bright, fun colors.
Artwork
-
Another way to bring fun designs into the baby room, and break up wall space, is through the use of artwork. You can find paintings and other wall decorations in most department and specialty stores. Or, get creative and make your own wall art.
Warning
-
When designing a nursery, it is important to consider the baby's safety. The crib should not contain pillows, stuffed animals or other plush objects that a baby could roll into and suffocate against. Any dangling strings, such as those on window blinds, should be put up, and all electrical outlets should be covered.
