Ideas for a Disney Princess Party
At some point, nearly every little girl in Western culture has a Disney princess birthday party. Buying prepackaged licensed party kits, hiring a princess to come and baking an extravagant cake is too expensive for many parents. With a little creativity, though, a Disney princess party can be easy, inexpensive and a lot of fun. Does this Spark an idea?

Carrying out the Theme
-
Carry out the theme in the invitations, the decorations, the games and the prizes.
Decide on a color scheme, such as pink and powder blue. Save money by buying solid-colored decorations in these colors instead of the licensed decorations. For example, buy plates, napkins, forks and tablecloths in the theme colors.
Dressing Up
-
On the invitation, ask guests to come dressed as their favorite Disney princess. If boys are coming, ask them to dress as their favorite Disney prince or medieval prince.
Another option is to have a few princess dresses at the ready, as well as a few foam swords and crowns for the boys, in case someone forgets a costume.

Games and Activities
-
Have a princess theme for games, too. Instead of pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, for example, try pin-the-tail-on-the-dragon. Make or buy a dragon out of felt or drawn on poster board.
Have a game of musical chairs, with a princess twist. Make one chair a "throne" with decorations. Use princess music. Whoever gets the "throne" wins a prize.
For older children, have a princess craft. Have the girls decorate ready-made foam crowns, or make cone-shaped crowns out of poster board. Use stickers, glitter and markers to decorate.
Prizes
-
For games, hand out small princess-themed prizes. Plastic jewels, dress-up sets and tiaras will be appreciated. Buy larger sets, and separate out the items as prizes.
Cakes and Refreshments
-
It's easy to make a princess-themed cake. Use the birthday girl's favorite princess figurine to decorate it; if she doesn't have one, purchase a small figurine or even a larger doll. Bake or purchase a cake, and simply place the princess figurine on top.
Party Favors
-
Small bags of jewels, plastic rings, candies, Disney princess fruit snacks and stickers are all fun choices for party favors. For the crafty, drawstring bags made of tulle or taffeta and ribbon can be created instead of purchased.
