Interesting Places in Hanoi

Hanoi is more than just the sum of multiple wars. Visitors can expect to be drawn to this little known capital for both its history and the vibrant energy of its people.

Temple of Literature

The oldest university in the city, the Temple of Literature was built within a Confucian Temple in the year 1076. The university is arguably the finest historical sight in Hanoi and is well maintained.

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum

See the man who led the Vietnamese against foreign invaders. Much to the chagrin of Uncle Ho, as locals call him, his eerie remains are on display for all to see---Mr. Ho himself had hoped to be cremated.

Museum of Ethnography

Showcasing 54 different cultures found throughout the country, exhibits are well designed, in several languages and will take just two hours to view.

Hoan Kiem

The city center, Hoan Kiem is a modern area with a beautifully landscaped lake in the middle. Lovers head to the lakeside in droves for some quiet time and to view the Ngoc Son Pagoda.

Long Bien Bridge

Originally designed by Gustave Eiffel, for years this was the only bridge into the city. American bombers hit the bridge on several occasions but could never complete the mission as American POWs were used to rebuild it.
