- Afternoon tea became a tradition at the hotel when it first opened its doors in 1908. More than 800 people come to the hotel daily to take part in the service.
- The hotel has 477 rooms, including rooms on the Fairmont Gold Floor. This floor has its own concierge, a private lounge, and complimentary breakfast and hors d'oeuvres.
- Famous guests have stayed at the Victoria Empress, including Harrison Ford, Barbra Streisand, Katherine Hepburn and Rita Hayworth.
- The Royal Restoration took place in 1989 and cost more than $45 million. The renovation added a new swimming pool and health spa and refurbished all of the guest rooms.
- According to staff and guests, there are two ghosts at the hotel. One is a little girl, and the other is of an old maid who's been seen on the sixth floor.
