Weekend Jobs for Teens

Since your teens can take on more responsibility than their younger siblings, they can do more heavy lifting around the house. They should be paid accordingly though, and given say in deciding when the job will be done and how to handle it.

Babysitting

Teens can look after newborns while their parents are busy with other things at home, or care for toddlers and youngsters for a few hours when the adults are out of the house.

Errands

Once your teen has a decent amount of driving experience, she can do errands for you like picking up her sister from a play date, or going to the store.

Wet Work

Have your older children do the more intensive housecleaning, like washing bathroom and kitchen floors, and fixtures and shampooing rugs.

Yard Work

Mowing the lawn, raking leaves, weeding and other landscaping chores gives teens exercise and gets them outside for awhile.

Cooking

Have your son take over cooking for the family on weekends and make a few meals to keep in the freezer to save you some time during the week.

Repairs

Don't shy from having your teenage daughter help her father repair or remodel things around the house. It will help her when she has her own home one day.
