- Your first duty is to choose the date of the event. Avoid choosing a date that will conflict with another event. The anniversary party does not have to be on the exact date of the anniversary.
- Choosing the location is the duty of the host. Make sure you choose a venue that is suited to the number of people who will be invited. Avoid having an overcrowded room or a room that has too much space and too few guests.
- Invitations are another responsibility of the host. You are not only responsible for deciding who is invited, but you are responsible for sending out the invitations. When you are deciding who to invite, consider who the couple would want to be at their party and send the invitations six to eight weeks in advance.
- Food, drinks and desserts are the responsibility of the host. Get favorite foods of the couple and basic foods everyone will enjoy. Provide nonalcoholic drinks for a basis. If you plan to pay for all the drinks, offer a bar, but if you do not plan to have an "open" bar, don't advertise it.
- The host is responsible for booking the entertainment. If you want a varied mix of music, opt for a deejay. If you want a similar set of tunes, opt for a live band. If the couple has a favorite band, arrange to have a cover band play.
- During the event, you are responsible for covering the catering, decoration and entertainment bills. You are also responsible for ensuring the guests have a good time.
