Dimethicone, scientifically known as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), is an organic compound belonging to the silicone family. Dimethicone is commonly used in skin care, medications, and makeup, and is safe for topical use.

Dimethicone is a silicone polymer that is used in all types of makeup and skin care products, such as lotions and creams, shampoo, cream-based eyeshadow and blush products, and lipstick.

Identification

Dimethicone is clear in color and feels smooth and silky to the touch. Usually gel-like in consistency, it feels like a finely milled powder when rubbed into the skin.

Function

Side Effects
