Importance of Going Green

As awareness and respect for our planet Earth continues to grow, may we strive to do what we can to keep our home clean and our resources abundant for future generations.

Population Increase

According to U.S. Census Bureau Statistics, the world's population is increasing at an alarming rate. In the year 2000, 6 billion people worldwide were recorded. If this trend continues, it has been estimated that there will be 9 billion people living on planet Earth by the year 2050.

Fixed Amount of Resources

To accommodate the extra people, there must be extra natural resources available as well. The Go Green Initiative website states, "If the world's natural resources were evenly distributed, people in 2050 will only have 25% of the resources per capita that people in 1950 had."

Protecting Water Purity

Groundwater can become polluted if the junk that we are throwing into our landfills contains poisonous chemicals that may seep through the groundwater barriers.

Saving Oil and Water

According to the Go Green Initiative, for every ton of paper that is recycled, 7,000 gallons of water are saved, as well as 380 gallons of oil.

Saving Electricity

The amount of energy that it takes to make one glass bottle could power a 100-watt light bulb for 4 hours.
