The Wii is Nintendo's fifth video game console, part of the seventh generation of consoles. It was designed with changes for how video games are played quickly became the highest selling console of its generation.

    Wii Remote

  1. The Wii's signature feature is the Wii remote controller, which uses infrared detection and accelerometers with its buttons. Gamers swing a controller in front of the screen, making the Wii a console that works on actual physical activity.
  2. Games

  3. The Wii was the first Nintendo console to use full-size CDs for its games. Nintendo used cartridge-based games until the GameCube, when it used smaller laser discs designed specifically for that console.
  4. Virtual Console

  5. The Virtual Console is another popular feature of the Wii. Through an Internet connection, players are able to purchase legal emulations of games from older Nintendo systems for play on the Wii console.
  6. Classic Controller

  7. The Wii also has a "classic controller" for use without the physical swinging, created mainly for use with the virtual console games.
  8. Compatibility

  9. The Wii will play GameCube games (provided a GameCube controller is connected to the console) and will connect wirelessly to the Nintendo DS hand-held console.
