When Does Walt Disney World Put Up Christmas Decorations?

Every year, Walt Disney World comes alive with the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas. From the giant trees that stand tall near the entrances of the resort's four theme parks to the fake snow of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World has become a Christmas destination for many families. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Magic Kingdom

    • Typically, Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom holds its first Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party around mid-November. Because of this, Disney begins putting up its Christmas décor at the Magic Kingdom in early November.

    Epcot

    • Epcot holds its first annual Candlelight Processional, a retelling of the Christmas story along with musical accompaniment and celebrity host, soon after Thanksgiving. As such, Epcot puts its Christmas décor up just a bit later than Magic Kingdom--shortly before Thanksgiving.

    Disney-Hollywood Studios

    • Disney-Hollywood Studios hosts its own special holiday event, The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights. This event usually premieres the day after Thanksgiving. Disney-Hollywood's décor is usually erected the week before Thanksgiving in time for the event.

    Animal Kingdom

    • Animal Kingdom, much like Epcot and Disney-Hollywood Studios, holds its first holiday parade right after Thanksgiving. Guests can expect to see holiday décor displayed within Animal Kingdom around mid-November.

Grand Floridian and Other On-Property Resorts

    • Most all Walt Disney World resorts are decorated for the holidays, with one of the most famous displays, the life-size gingerbread house. These displays usually begin construction in mid-November.
