As with many approved drugs, clinical trials were done on Augmentin 875mg to report the side effects and number of occurrences. Taking more than prescribed can greatly increase the chances of these side effects. The clinical trial was done under the belief that the patient was taking only the amount that was prescribed.

Common Side Effects

The most common side effects of Augmentin include diarrhea, nausea, skin rashes, urticaria, vomiting and vaginitis. All other side effects affected less than 1 percent of patients studied in the clinical trial.

Hypersensitivity Reactions

Skin rashes and other skin reactions may occur while taking Augmentin. Many times, hypersensitivity reactions can be controlled with the use of antihistamines.

Central Nervous System Side Effects

Anxiety, confusion and insomnia are some of the reactions Augmentin has on the central nervous system.

Rare Side Effects

Renal side effects, tooth discoloration, anemia and complications with the liver have been reported in rare circumstances.
