- Newborns up to 1 week of age will typically sleep for 14 to 18 hours a day. By 1 month of age, they are often sleeping 12 to 16 hours a day. Infants at this age are only capable of sleeping between 2 and 4 hours at a time.
- Between 3 and 6 months of age, infants often sleep between 12 and 15 hours a day and have stopped most, if not all, of their nighttime feedings.
- Between 6 and 9 months of age, infants typically sleep between 11-1/2 and 15 hours a day. They are capable of sleeping through the night with two daytime naps.
- Between 9 and 12 months of age, infants usually sleep between 11 and 14 hours a night with two daytime naps of one to two hours each.
