Side Effects of Generic Aciphex
Rabeprazole sodium is the generic form of the drug Aciphex, which is used to reduce the amount of acid in the stomach in order to treat conditions like reflux disease and peptic ulcers.

Pain

Rabeprazole caused body aches and pains in 3 percent of participants in a clinical study conducted by the maker of rabeprazole. The Mayo Clinic also reports lower back, muscle and joint pain as side effects of the drug.
Cold Symptoms

Rabeprazole caused a sore throat in 2 percent of study participants and is also known to cause a runny nose, trouble swallowing, headache, tiredness and cough.

Gastrointestinal

Flatulence and constipation occurred in 3 percent and 2 percent of study participants, respectively. Other less commonly reported gastrointestinal side effects of rabeprazole include light colored stool, nausea and diarrhea.
Cardiovascular

Uncommon to rare cardiovascular side effects of rabeprazole include difficulty breathing, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath and tightness in the chest.
Other Side Effects

There are a number of rare mental and neurological side effects linked to raberprazole, including confusion about identity and location, seizures, fantasies and hallucinations. In addition, other symptoms like dark or painful urine, tingling extremities, rapid weight loss or gain, swelling, hives, rash and bad breath may occur.
