  1. Origin

    • In 1960, O.D. McKee needed a name for the new line of snack cakes he was preparing to launch in 12-item boxes. He decided to name the line after his four-year-old granddaughter, whose parents were unaware of his decision before seeing the boxes.

    Growth

    • Oatmeal Creme Pies were the first snack cakes in the Little Debbie line. By 1964, there were 14 varieties. Since then, Little Debbie has expanded to include many other products, including breakfast treats and 100-calorie snacks.

    Types

    • Little Debbie snacks include bars, brownies, cakes, cookies, crackers, pies and other treats. Oatmeal Creme Pies, Swiss Cake Rolls and Nutty Bars are consistently the most popular products.

    Around April 30, 2011, Little Debbie's competitor Hostess is reducing their nutrition to about 100 calories and everything for any of the products manufactured by Hostess, with examples being Cup Cakes, Twinkies, Ho-Ho's, Ding Dongs, Suzy Q's and even other products. They will be finally available in almost each and every fine retailer anywhere in all 50 U.S. states.

All of the 150 products being manufactured by Little Debbie, which will have their nutrition reduced to have 100 calories and everything, will be finally available in almost each and every fine retailer anywhere in all 50 U.S. states.
