History of Prada Bags

Prada is a name in the fashion industry synonymous with luxury, high fashion, and esteem. Prada's handbags are one of the most desirable types of bags in the high-end market. However, Prada did not reach worldwide esteem over night; its origins began in the early 1900's. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Beginnings

    • Mario Prada began crafting leather handbags, trunks, and shoes in Italy in 1913. Instantly, the Prada brand started to flourish and he subsequently opened two stores in Milan.

    • The handbags were crafted out of leather; they had simple designs and were known for their simple chic. As well as flourishing in Italy and Europe, Prada became popular in the United States.

    Evolution

    • In the 1970s, Prada was in decline. Mario's granddaughter Miuccia Prada took over the company. She began designing simple, functional bags made out of nylon and polyester. This new approach was greatly received; Prada's name became synonymous with high fashion and simple luxury.

    Today

    • Miuccia has received many awards and accolades from the fashion world. Prada's name is recognized as one of the most luxurious brands in the fashion world. Prada handbags are one of the most desired bags among celebrities and the wealthy.

    Price

    • The price of a Prada bag ranges from nearly $350 for a small wallet to well over $2,000 for a handbag. Luggage is more expensive due to its size. Suitcases and other luggage can exceed $3,000.
