Signs of Pregnancy in the First Three Weeks

It is right around the third week of pregnancy that a pregnancy test is going to produce an accurate result. Until this point, there are few ways of knowing one is pregnant. However, there are definite signs of pregnancy in the first 3 weeks that may lead a woman to take that pregnancy test as soon as her period is due or has been missed.

  1. Cramps

    • Cramping at the beginning of pregnancy is very normal. Many women misconstrue this cramping as a prelude to their menstrual cycle.

    Spotting

    • Spotting within the first 3 weeks of pregnancy is normal. It occurs when the fertilized egg has implanted into the uterus and so is called implantation bleeding.

    Fatigue

    • As soon as a woman becomes pregnant, her hormones change. This can often wreak havoc on the body and can leave a women feeling very fatigued even after a full night's sleep or long nap.

    Nausea

    • Nausea can begin as soon as the egg has implanted, but can become progressively worse within the first 3 weeks. Some women feel as if they are coming down with the flu when they are, in fact, pregnant.

    Temperature

    • Pregnant women run a higher body temperature than when not pregnant. This occurs during ovulation and continues through implantation and pregnancy. A higher body temperature is one of the more subtle signs of pregnancy in the first 3 weeks.

    Frequent Urination

    • Frequent urination can occur as early as the first week of pregnancy and will only continue to become more frequent as the pregnancy progresses.
