Jewelry makers who design their own beads and metal jewelry, or who bind materials together, need special tools. Most of these tools involve heat, flame, and some flying debris, and so need to be used with caution. This article describes some of the tools used to make jewelry.

    Torch

  1. A torch is used to melt glass to make different shaped and colored glass beads.
  2. Solder

  3. Solder is available in different consistencies, such as hard and soft. There is also wire solder. It is used in making jewelry and for binding materials together.
  4. Soldering Board

  5. A soldering board allows a jewelry maker to hold work in place while he or she solders materials and wires together. Jewelry makers can choose between hard and soft ceramic boards that are heat resistant.
  6. Solder cutter

  7. A solder cutter is used to cut sheet of solder or wire solder. There are different sizes of solder cutters for cutting different sizes of solder.
  8. Safety Goggles

  9. Every jewelry maker using torches and solder cutters needs these to keep debris from damaging the eyes. Safety goggles also protect eyes from heat and flame.
