Low Calorie & Low Carb Foods

Low calorie and low carb foods such as fruits, fish, poultry and vegetables are critical to maintain a healthy lifestyle. These foods prevent many diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hypertension. Eating these foods also increases how long you live, and gives you more energy than eating a diet with high calories and carbohydrates.

  1. Fruits

    • Fresh fruits are low in calories. Fruits such as blueberries, citrus fruits and kiwi are high in antioxidants and help keep your body in top condition. Eat sweet fruits in lieu of sugary foods such as cookies, cakes and ice cream.

    Fish

    • Fish, especially salmon, contains low calories, no carbs and is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which help prevent high cholesterol, strokes and cardiovascular disease.

    Poultry

    • Poultry (without the skin) is an excellent addition to a healthy diet and contains no carbs and low calories.

    Vegetables

    • Vegetables contain low, healthy carbs and low calories. Choose brightly-colored vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, carrots and bell peppers (red, green, yellow and orange) to help prevent heart attacks and diabetes.
