Instruction at flight attendant training programs covers a wide variety of topics, including lifesaving techniques, usage of equipment, protocol for handling emergencies including terrorist hijacking, evacuation procedures, dealing with belligerent or dangerous passengers, flight rules and regulation, company policy and procedure, and personal grooming.

Specialized Training

Flight attendant training programs are specifically tailored to one type of aircraft, which results in certification to work only on that model of aircraft. Flight attendants who wish or are required to work on more than one type of aircraft must take subsequent training programs in each type.
Location of Training

Flight attendant training programs are offered through large, national airlines at their own specialized training centers. Smaller airlines will often contract with larger airlines so that their flight attendants may attend training in these centers as well.
Duration

Flight attendant training programs usually last between 3 to 8 weeks. Throughout the training, examinations are administered and those that do not pass are removed from the training. This leads to a culminating assessment on practice flights, which ultimately decide whether a flight attendant will become certified.
