Natural Supplements to Boost Progesterone

According to the American Medical Association, there are a number of options to traditional hormone therapy to relieve perimenopausal and post menopause symptoms. These may include natural progesterone supplements, vitamins and changes in diet.

    Considerations

  1. Talk with your doctor before taking any progesterone supplements. He will order a test to determine your hormonal levels, and decide on the appropriate treatment.
  2. Progesterone Cream

  3. To boost progesterone, often it is as simple as applying a progesterone cream to the body. These creams are applied to the body where the skin is thin, such as the inner thigh, under the arms or the chest.
  4. Progesterone Supplements

  5. Another option to increase progesterone levels is to take natural progesterone supplements. These are typically made from yam, but may also be made from soy products.
  6. Vitamins

  7. Take a vitamin C supplement daily to boost levels of progesterone. Eat more citrus fruits, such as oranges and grapefruit, or drink more orange juice.
  8. Zinc Supplements

  9. Take a zinc supplement or eat more fish, meats and beans. Zinc is a critical component that relates to progesterone production in the body.
