What Are the Benefits of a Smart House?

A smart house is built using green practices or ecologically and environmentally sound ideas. Every design decision is made with efficiency in mind. As Americans become more concerned with the environment, green construction is becoming popular. There are a variety of benefits to building a smart house. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Efficient Energy

    • Technology throughout a smart house helps save energy. At the same time, it lowers the costs of heating and cooling the interior. Large windows and sunshades light, heat and cool the home. The roof has solar panels made of photovoltaic film.

    Saving Water

    • In a smart house, rainwater and gray water (rinse water from showers and washing machines) are both used to flush toilets and water plants. The roof is built to absorb the rainwater. A dual-flush toilet--which has the option of a dry flush or wet flush--and low-flow shower heads conserve water.

    Materials

    • Renewable and recycled materials are used as much as possible. Bamboo is usually the choice for flooring.

    Building in a Factory

    • Smart houses built in factories are more efficient in several ways. A house built on site faces weather delays and plenty of wasted material. In the factory, weather is not an issue, and there is no waste. A modular house is built from the inside out, and even large homes can be constructed in a matter of weeks.

    Gizmos and Gadgets

    • A smart house also uses green items. A wave cube microwave uses less electricity than standards models. A battery-powered lawnmowers controls harmful emissions. A green box energy monitor lets you regularly check your energy usage. Carpet tiles made of recycled materials are easy to clean, and they help ward off mold.
