Goji juice is extracted from the goji berry, which is native to the slopes of the Himalayas where it has long been highly valued as a remedy for a range of health conditions. However, like most natural remedies, goji juice may have some side effects that range from mild to severe.

    Anti-coagulant

  1. Goji juice has active compounds that have a blood thinning effect. While the anti-coagulant properties are beneficial for some health conditions, they may have a harmful effect on people who suffer from heart conditions.
  2. Contraindication

  3. When taken with medications such as coumadin (also known as Warfarin) or aspirin, the interaction between the drugs and goji juice has negative side effects, such as anemia and uncontrolled bleeding.
  4. Insomnia

  5. The re-energizing properties of this herbal juice may cause insomnia by enhancing mental activity and athletic performance.
  6. Digestive Upsets

  7. Goji causes stomach upset in some people, resulting in nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and other symptoms.
  8. Pregnancy Complications

  9. Goji juice may cause complications during pregnancy when taken in amounts that exceed the dosage recommended by a doctor or other licensed health care practitioner.
