Government Jobs for Teens
Though there are restrictions on the number of hours and the field in which they may work, there are a variety of summer jobs available for teenagers. Throughout the country, there are positions offered through various departments of the U.S. federal government that are open to students who are actively enrolled in high school and are U.S. citizens.

Lifeguards

Teenagers who are certified in lifesaving can find work at government pools, beaches and lakes. These positions can be found through branches of the armed forces that have pools for soldiers' families on their bases or through the Department of Interior's National Park Service.
Camp Counselors

During the summer months, the departments of the Interior and Agriculture typically require the help of laborers for outdoor projects. In many cases, teenagers are eligible for these jobs.
