    Fees for Wireless Services/Hot Spots

    • Using a wireless service in a hot-spot area can cost as much as $10 per day. Some areas, however, do offer free wireless services. You can search WifiFreeSpot's website to find free availability in your area. (See "References," below.)

    Locations With the Most Wireless Spots Available

    • According to Intel, New York City ranks No. 1 with the most wireless hot spots at 766. San Fransisco is ranked at No. 2 with 458. There are only 80 spots available in the state of Wisconsin.

    Internet Access Use

    • In June 2005 to June 2006, Internet use to access information increased by 756 percent; 56 percent of devices by leading mobile carriers were able to access the web. In 2006, half of mobile subscribers were using their mobiles to access the Internet for data search, playing games, or sending and receiving pictures.
