File extensions can sometimes be associated with more than 1 type of file. CDR files may contain image, audio or data information, depending on the program that created it.

    Full Extension Name

  1. The CDR file extension most commonly is an abbreviation for CorelDRAW Image File, but it may also stand for a Raw Audio-CD Data file or Crash Data Retrieval file.
  2. Associated Programs

  3. CDR image files are associated with Corel software company's programs Corel Paint Shop Pro and CorelDRAW. Audio CDR files are most commonly created by Roxio Toast CD "ripper" software, while CDR data files are unique to Bosch software's Crash Data Retrieval System.
  4. File Formats

  5. Each type of CDR file has a different format. Corel files store information as vector or geometric images. Roxio files are audio files, storing sound in compressed or uncompressed form and Bosch files are data files, which store information in text format.
  6. Corresponding File Formats
