Rat Poison Symptoms in Humans

Rat poisoning usually does not produce symptoms in humans for several days. It can cause internal bleeding. A victim will experience weakness. Evidence of bleeding in the body will manifest with bruising.

Digestive Effects

Diarrhea, nausea and vomiting are all side effects of rat poisoning. The vomit or diarrhea could have blood in it.

Bleeding

Rat poison reduces vitamin K levels, which affect the clotting factor. This leads to abnormal bleeding, such as from the nose or gums.

Dizziness

Dizziness is a direct result of thinning of the blood. The dizziness can become so severe that standing is impossible.

Lethargy

After ingesting rat poisoning, you may begin to feel very sleepy. This is from the thinned blood making its way through the body.

Death

Rat poisoning can cause death if enough is ingested. The most common causes of death from rat poisoning are hemorrhaging and heart complications.
