What Kind of Jobs Does the Military Offer?

You can get training for and experience in a wide variety of jobs and careers in the U.S. military. The different branches of the military offer different types of opportunities in many different fields.

Foundation

No matter which branch of the military you join, you'll first have to go through some kind of basic training, which will indoctrinate you into military life. Specialized training comes later.

Army

The Army offers about 150 different types of jobs, in fields ranging from law to engineering to construction to medicine. You can also get specialized training in a number of fields, such as music and foreign languages.

Air Force

Aside from being a pilot, the Air Force can train you to work on everything from aircraft to rockets. You can also get training in computers, air traffic control and aerospace-related careers, such as aerospace medicine.

Navy

The Navy also offers a variety of career options for the enlisted and officers. One field peculiar to the Navy is power and energy, which will give you training in jobs related to ship and submarine propulsion.
