Requirements for Getting a Drivers Permit in Connecticut
In order to receive a driver's permit in the state of Connecticut, a teenager aged 16 or 17 needs to follow the regulations set forth by the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles. Specifics are set forth for age, tests that must be passed, proof of identity and residency, and payment of fees.

Age Requirements

To obtain a learner's permit in the state of Connecticut, an individual must be sixteen years old; seventeen-year-olds also need permits to drive.
Test Requirements

A learner's permit in the state of Connecticut will not be given to anyone who cannot successfully complete a test based on the Connecticut Driver's Manual. Individuals will also be given an eye examination.

Individuals wishing to obtain a learner's permit must be able to show proof of identity, which includes both an original birth certificate and one other form of identification such as a passport, Citizenship or Naturalization certificate, or a Permanent Resident Card.
Photograph Requirements

A photograph, which will not be returned, should accompany the identification papers; the photograph should be approximately one inch square, taken without scarves, hats, sunglasses, or other items that obscure the face.
Proof of Connecticut Residency
