  3. Jones has nine voice mail patents that are faster and more reliable than major companies' like AT&T and Northern Telecom. This is a very cost efficient and convenient way for messaging to occur.

  5. Jones was only 26 in 1986 when he made this innovation.

  7. This invention was made within his co-founded company, Boston Technology.

  9. While Scott Jones may have invented voice mail, he got his big break when Bell Atlantic looked for manufacturers to create a voice messaging system. This system was supposed to be sophisticated and handle mass communications. With Jones' jump start on his voice mail patent, he guaranteed a system within months of the offer.
