Plavix Side Effects - Fatigue
The drug Plavix is prescribed for individuals who have suffered from a cardiovascular incident such as heart attack or stroke. It may also be given to individuals who have peripheral artery disease. Plavix decreases the possibility of forming blood clots by affecting how platelets join together to form a blood clot, as well as how they interact with other blood cells.

There are common side effects attached to Plavix. These include bruising, bronchitis, cough, diarrhea, dizziness, fluid retention, flu symptoms, headache, indigestion, inflamed nasal passages, itchy skin, nausea, nose bleeds, pain of the abdomen, chest or back, rash and swelling.

Additional less common side effects include constipation, depression, difficulty breathing, excessive bleeding, high cholesterol, hypertension, joint pain, skin discoloration, stomach ulcers, tar-like stool, upper respiratory infection, urinary tract infection or blood in urine and vomiting of blood.

Plavix may have a negative effect on cells that help activate and protect the immune system. This can make some side effects more severe and lead to extreme fatigue.
Types

Plavix should not be mixed with certain types of medications. People who take certain types of drugs regularly may also not be good candidates since the drug could alter how the drugs work by increasing or decreasing their effectiveness. People taking additional blood thinners or anti-inflammatory drugs should notify their physician before accepting Plavix. Plavix can also interact with certain herbal medications containing fish oil, garlic, ginger, gingko biloba, ginseng and St. John's wort.
