What Are Old Pine Tree Qigong Exercises?
Old pine tree qigong exercises form part of Chris Bashaw's broadly based spiritual martial arts system, Kosho Hoho Yooga. The result of 25 years of personal study and training with a wide variety of healers and martial artists, KHY uses exercises from many older disciplines.

Three Foundations
-
KHY exercises stem from three sources, one being Kosho Ryu Kempo karate. Since KHY works with internal energies, many exercises come from Tai Chi Chuan, with an additional emphasis on Celtic and Native American shamanism.
Yoga and Reiki
-
Shugendo yoga, developed by Japanese Buddhist priests, is often a part of KHY training. Because old pine tree yoga is dedicated as much to healing and spiritual development as to self-defense, other esoteric practices like Reiki are also taught.

Exercise Divisions
-
Exercise regimens change as students advance through KHY's 10 ranks. At the first level, instruction includes both yoga and qigong; at higher levels, students practice tai chi sequences, shamanic animal movements and a weapons form.
Original Exercise
-
At every stage, students study established forms and learn the underlying principles. Practitioners are required to create their own kata and to demonstrate their understanding of hidden methods.
Individual Paths
-
With many standard exercises from pre-existing systems, KHY's goal is to inspire students to go beyond simple repetition. KHY's old pine tree qigong evolves differently for each person.
