- Side effects for the age group of 6 to 23 months include upper respiratory infection, wheezing, ear infection, tonsillitis, rhinitis, cough and pharyngitis.
- In patients 2 to 5 years old, side effects include cough, fever, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, sinusitis, rash, ear pain, gastroenteritis, influenza, dermatitis, conjunctivitis and eczema.
- Side effects for patients 6 to 14 years old include influenza, fever, nausea, diarrhea, sinusitis, pharyngitis, dyspepsia, laryngitis and viral infection.
- The use of phenobarbital or rifampin with singulair can increase montelukast blood concentration by as much as 40 percent. The dosage may need to be adjusted when taken with either of these drugs.
- A physician should be contacted immediately if any of the following symptoms appear: numbness of arms and legs, severe swelling and pain of the sinuses, or an illness similar to the flu.
