History of Puma Knives
Puma-Werk of Solingen, Germany, originated in the water-powered mill workshop of Johann Wilhelm Lauterjung on the banks of the Wupper River. Lauterjung registered his first trademark with the Solingen Master Cutlers Guild in 1769.

Returning to civilian production after WWII, by 1953 Puma produced several of its best known knives, machetes and hunting spears under the guidance of Oswald von Frankenberg and Ludwigsdorf, husband of Renate Lauterjung. General Manager Renate sold the company to another Solingen family, the Hindrichs, in 1991.

Puma's newest knives combine modern innovations and styles with traditional old world craftsmanship. Puma TEC folding knives and fixed blades were introduced to the world marketplace in 2008.
