Lacrosse Equipment Rules
Lacrosse was first played by Native Americans and is one of the oldest American team sports. U.S. Lacrosse is the governing body for lacrosse in the United States and has put certain rules into effect regarding lacrosse equipment.

The Crosse
-
The crosse, or stick used in the game of lacrosse, has specific length requirements for different positions. These lengths vary based on the position played and the gender participating in the sport.
The Ball
-
In men's lacrosse, the ball can be yellow, white or orange, while in women's lacrosse it must be yellow. For both sexes, the ball must be made of rubber, 7 3/4 to 8 inches in diameter and 5 to 5 1/4 ounces.
-
Helmets
-
Men's lacrosse players are required to wear regulation helmets with a face mask, chin pad and chin strap. In women's lacrosse, only the goalkeepers must wear a helmet during a match.
Mouthpieces
-
Both male and female lacrosse players are required to wear mouth guards. For men, it is further stipulated that the mouth guard be a bright color to be recognized behind the face mask of the helmet.
Additional Requirements for Men's Lacrosse
