What Vegetables Can Be Planted in July?

Timing is important in order to produce a bountiful fall harvest. Long after the last tomato is picked off the vine, other delicious vegetables will prepare to show their abundance. July is the perfect time to plant these stars of the fall and winter garden.

    Broccoli

  1. Broccoli can be planted from mid-July to mid-August. A fall crop will produce well into November.
  2. Carrots

  3. Planting carrots by mid-July yields a fall crop that will keep in the garden until used.
  4. Chard

  5. Chard can be planted by mid-July for harvesting in the fall.
  6. Kale

  7. Planting kale mid-July through mid-August will yield an excellent harvest in the fall and winter.
  8. Lettuce

  9. Sow lettuce in July for a fall crop. Head, Romaine, Prizehead and Red Sails are good ones to try.
  10. Peas

  11. Green peas and sugar peas are good to plant in July, and will produce a moderate fall harvest.
