What Is a Retail Store?
Retail stores are places that sell goods and merchandise to other businesses or individuals. These stores may be on residential streets, commercial streets or in shopping malls.

Buildings
-
The building is the physical location of the store where the buyers and sellers unite. The retail store buildings can be located on streets, town squares, shopping malls, and may even be a temporary structure, such as a market stall.
Purchasing
-
To obtain goods from a retail store the consumer may order online, shop in the store, choose to have items delivered, or purchase goods from door-to-door service. Many businesses choose the delivery service.
-
Chains
-
Some retail stores are part of a chain--which is a group of similar shops--with the same name that sells the same products, yet the locations vary. All of the shops can be owned by one company, or they can be franchised.
Pricing
-
Most retailers use a cost-plus pricing technique. Retail stores will add a percentage to the retail costs. The other type of pricing is suggested retail pricing which involves simply charging the amount that the manufacturer suggests.
Offers
-
Many retail stores may offer discounts or sell retail items second hand. This means that the items are used. Some new merchandise may be out of date or going out of fashion. It will then will go on a special kind of sale called clearance.
