Bounty Hunter Requirements

Bounty hunter requirements differ little from state to state except for the application fees, which vary depending in which state you reside. Application fees are nonrefundable on failing the bounty hunter application requirements.

  1. Time Frame

    • Bounty hunter applicants must be at least 21 years old before submitting a completed application. At least three years experience with a licensed bounty hunter may eliminate the need for some parts of the application, depending on the state.

    Identification

    • With the application, hopefuls are required to submit a full set of fingerprints that have been taken at a law enforcement office.

    Types

    • The applicant should have no warrants or pending litigation in any state. This is because the job of bounty hunter may take him to that state and impede his investigations.

    License

    • Applicant must have a valid driver's license in the state in which he resides. A written test is required to be taken pertaining to bounty hunting at the MVD (Dept. of Revenue) after the initial application has been accepted.

    History

    • Juvenile convictions must be divulged no matter how petty they were at the time. DUIs and DWIs do not need to be revealed in the application.

    Fee

    • The appropriate fee must be enclosed with the application package and submitted accordingly.
